How to use the bingo caller

Prepare cards that match the words or numbers you plan to call, then open the caller for your class. The latest call appears large, with the previous 5 calls and a board of everything already called.

  1. Open Cards to prepare your cards. For a word game, choose Words under Card type and enter your words, one per line, in Words (one per line).
  2. Open Caller when your class has its cards and is ready to begin.
  3. Select Call next to draw an item. On the caller tab, you can also press the Space key.
  4. For automatic calling, set Auto call speed from 3 to 30 seconds, then select Auto call. The default interval is 8 seconds.
  5. Select Stop auto call when you need to pause for discussion or check a claimed win. Use Call next when you want to control the pace yourself.

How to check a claimed card

When a student claims a win, ask for the number printed on the card. Enter it in Card number and select Check card to see that card with the called items marked.

The checker identifies any completed row, column, diagonal, four corners, or full card. Tell your class which pattern counts before you begin, then compare the result with that rule.

Card-number checking works only for cards made with the generator on this site, using the same list and shuffle. Prepare matching cards with the Bingo card generator; a number on a card from elsewhere cannot identify its layout here.

Can the caller read aloud

Turn on Read calls aloud if you want spoken calls alongside the display. The tool uses the browser's voice for the page language, so check it on the computer you plan to use in class.

Some browsers have no voice for a particular language. If the needed voice is unavailable, calls appear only on screen; you can read them aloud yourself.

For a projector or smartboard, select Full screen to show only the tool. Keep the called-items board visible so you can refer back to earlier calls without relying on the spoken announcement.

Bingo ideas for your class

Choose words from the lesson you are already preparing, or use number cards for a classroom game. Match the pace to the task: manual calls leave room for discussion, while auto-call keeps a steady interval.

  • Vocabulary warm-up: give the whole class matching word cards at the start of the lesson. Call manually and pause for a definition or example before moving on.
  • Small-group review: use topic words during a center rotation. Keep the game within the rotation and stop automatic calls when a group needs to check a card.
  • Number game: use 1–75 cards for a brief whole-class break. Announce the target pattern first and finish when a matching card is verified.
  • End-of-lesson review: call words from the day's topic and ask for a short explanation after each call. Stop when you need to move to the exit ticket rather than waiting for every word.

Common questions

Can I call words instead of numbers?

Yes. The caller draws from the words used for your cards, so you can use vocabulary or other lesson terms. Repeated words are removed without regard to capital letters.

Can I undo a call?

Yes. Select Undo last call to undo the last call. This applies to the most recent call, not an earlier item you choose from the board.

How fast is auto-call?

You can set Auto call speed from 3 to 30 seconds; the default is 8 seconds. Automatic calling continues until you select Stop auto call or every item has been called.

Does the bingo caller repeat numbers?

No. The caller draws numbers from 1 to 75 without repeats during the game. Word calls also draw without repeats, and the board shows everything already called.

Can I check cards made somewhere else?

Not by card number with this checker. It identifies cards made by this site's generator using the same list and shuffle. For other cards, compare the marked squares with the board of called items yourself.
